4. Resume Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create, upload, or input into the Platform ("User Content"). CareerAI claims no intellectual property rights over your resumes, cover letters, or any professional documents you create using our services. By submitting User Content, you grant CareerAI a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Platform's services. This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account, subject to standard backup and retention periods.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

CareerAI uses artificial intelligence and large language models to generate suggestions, rewrites, and content improvements. AI-generated content is provided as a starting point or suggestion only and does not constitute professional career advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying the accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of all AI-generated content before using it in any professional context. CareerAI makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, relevance, or effectiveness of AI-generated suggestions. AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies and should never replace your own judgment or professional advice.

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Platform to:

Upload, transmit, or distribute any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform, other user accounts, or our systems.
Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform or its infrastructure.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any aspect of the Platform.
Use automated bots, scrapers, or scripts to access or extract data from the Platform without our express written permission.
Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any malicious code.
Use the Platform for any fraudulent or deceptive purpose.

7. Subscription & Payment Terms

CareerAI offers both free and paid subscription plans. This section governs paid subscriptions:

Billing: Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, as selected during checkout.
Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds: Fees paid are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as expressly stated in a separate refund policy.
Price Changes: We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after the price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

Payment processing is handled securely by third-party payment processors. CareerAI does not store full payment card details on its servers.

8. Intellectual Property

The CareerAI Platform, including its design, layout, code, templates, graphics, logos, and underlying technology, is owned by CareerAI and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Platform for your personal career development purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Platform or its content without our prior written consent. The CareerAI name, logo, and branding are trademarks of CareerAI and may not be used without permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CareerAI and its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Platform. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory under which liability is asserted, whether in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise, even if CareerAI has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In no event shall CareerAI's total liability to you for all claims exceed the amount you have paid to CareerAI in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

10. Termination of Accounts

CareerAI reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, under the following circumstances:

Violation of these Terms of Service or any applicable policy.
Engaging in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.
Creating a risk of legal exposure for CareerAI or other users.
Extended period of account inactivity.
At your request via a formal account deletion request.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. We will permanently delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and standard data retention schedules, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or regulatory compliance.

11. Changes to Terms

CareerAI reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
